What is Vitamin D ?
Vitamin D is a pro-hormone produced by the liver and the body uses it for helping other hormonal activities. A vitamin D count less than 20 is considered deficient and if the count is less than 10, it is a severe deficiency.
Body produces vitamin D primarily from exposure to sunlight. Though some food items also contribute, it is sunlight that contributes the most.

A deficiency can cause many diseases that may resemble orthopedic conditions, joint pains, arthritis etc. Until recently, medical science did not have the means to effectively determine the deficiency of Vitamin D. Hence, actual cause of many such illnesses would not have diagnosed correctly. But now, things have changed and proper diagnosis and effective treatments are available.
